Le tirage pour les quarts de finale de la ligue des champions à accouché de 2 gros chocs et on ne va pas s’en plaindre.

Le premier sera une affiche anglaise avec les Blues de Chelsea (actuel 3^e de la première league) qui devront défier les Reds de Liverpool (actuel 2^e de la première league).

Nous auront aussi le droit à un savoureux Barça – Bayern qui promet énormément avec un match dans le match entre 2 des joueurs les plus rapides des terrains d’ Europe, Ribery et Messi.

De l’autre coté du tableau le leader de la première league, les Red Devils de Manchester United ont profité d’un tirage plutôt clément puisqu’ils devront affronter le leader de la ligue portugaise le FC Porto, une des 2 équipes les plus prenables avec Villareal (sur le papier…).

Villareal d’ailleurs devra batailler pour venir à bout des Gunners d’Arsenal, cela sera l’occasion de jauger le 4^e de la première league face au 4^e de la liga.

Après la victoire Madrilène samedi soir dans la « cathédrale » de San Mamés face à l’Athlectic Bilbao (5-2), le Barça était sous pression et devait s’imposer à l’extérieur contre Almeria pour reprendre ses airs et remettre la Casa Blanca à 6 points.

Chose faite avec le doublé du petit prodige Catalan, Bojan (18ans) qui a tué le match en 3 minutes (53^e et 56^e) parachevant 2 actions typiquement « Barcelonesque » et par ce biais ouvert son compteur en liga cette saison.

Sans Henry ni Eto’o, le Barça a buté sur un grand Diego Alvès (d’ailleurs pisté par la cellule de recrutement du FCB) qui a retardé l’échéance et a sorti des parades de grandes classes.

Statut quo donc pour cette 27^e journée de liga, le prochain acte aura lieu dimanche 22 mars au Nou Camp contre Malaga et d’ici là on connaitra l’adversaire du Barça pour le quart de final de la ligue des champions…

Gros match de la part des joueurs barcelonais hier soir au Nou Camp devant près

De 95000 spectateurs.

Un seul chiffre pourrait résumer la prestation du barça, 68%, la possession du ballon coté

Culé. Encaisser 4 buts en une mi-temps en huitième de final de la Champions League fait tache

Mais quand le barça joue avec un tel niveau de jeu rien ne peut arrêter le rouleau compresseur catalan.

A l’image d’un Juninho nerveux l’OL n’a pu que constater la supériorité et la fluidité de ce qui se fait de mieux en Europe et le score final (5–2) reflète parfaitement la qualité offensive du FC Barcelone.

Il ne reste plus qu’à attendre le tirage au sort des quarts de final qui aura lieu à Nyon le 20 mars prochain avec à coup sur de grosses affiches et encore beaucoup de spectacle.

All 4 English Clubs get into the quarterfinals of the Champions

It is hard to deny that the Primiership league is the crème de la crème of European Football leagues. Hey, we new that before but the performances by Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea left no room for a doubt. Our Spanish counterparts didn’t do to shabby either qualifying 3 of their own.

Manchester and Liverpool simply out played their opponents while Chelsea and Arsenal struggled a bit but got by into the next round.

It is now put in place that the majority of the quarterfinals will be an ultimate showdown between the two best leagues in Europe.

We are all waiting until next Friday to find out who is playing whom but one thing is for sure, we are all in for a treat as the Primiership and La Liga face off for bragging rights.

5 trophies in one year for Manchester United?

They already have the Carling Cup. They are on top in the premiership. They have proven themselves before in the champions league and are playing some of their best football of the season. So the question is whether or not they can bring home an unheard of 5 trophies in one season. They are making the push. Do you think they will make take it the distance?

They will have to clean house in the rest of the league to do so even though they are on top by 7 points. But quite possibly the most difficult task in front of them is that in order to advance for a 5th cup of the season, the Club world Cup, they will need to win the champions league trophy and a lot of stiff competition is still out there looking to ruin the would be history making run at 5 cups.

Liverpool gives it to another Spanish Team

Looks like Liverpool is up to their Champions league magic again. Their 1- 0 result over Real Madrid has all of Spain wondering, if they do in fact get past Real in the second leg, who will be their next victim from La Liga.

Could FC Barcelona get a rematch from a few years back with everthing on the line?

We will all have to wait and see.

Liverpool manager , Rafeal Benítez, admitts that it is just one game and the team will have to play better the second time around but for now they deserve to enjoy this moment for it was a pleasant game to the eye.
